Asha Egmont (she/her) is an in-demand trombonist, vocalist, educator, and composer based in the Chicago area. Graduating from Loyola University Chicago in 2024 with BAs in Jazz Studies and Environmental Studies, Asha’s work spans the ecological, social, political, and artistic spheres. She hopes that her music is able to hold a mirror to the world we live in, and reflect her experiences honestly.

On the horn, Asha’s sound has been described as melodic, emotional, and sensitive, balanced with the power and force of a funk trombonist. She additionally debuted as a vocalist in summer 2026, and has been reflecting on the vulnerability and humanity that singing requires. Asha leads a drum-less trio in Chicago, which has performed at venues such as Clara and Fulton Street Collective. She hopes to continue growing  with this group and unearthing new aspects of her artistry through upcoming projects. 

Mentorship is a pillar of Asha’s musical experience. This is apparent not only through her studies with esteemed musicians, Chris Madsen, Catie Hickey, Matt Ulery, and Lara Driscoll, but also in her work with students and preprofessional musicians through the nonprofit, Brass Beyond. Asha volunteers her time as administrative assistant and social media manager for this organization, and finds a lot of fulfillment in supporting their work and the network of brass musicians they support.
